Dr. Oliver Massmann is a German-qualified lawyer, a licensed foreign lawyer in Vietnam, a financial accountant and an auditor. With nearly three decades of professional experience in Vietnam, he brings a distinctive combination of legal, financial, auditing and strategic expertise to international investment and business development.
Based in Vietnam since 1998, Dr. Massmann has advised multinational corporations, international investors and business leaders on complex legal and commercial matters, major investment projects and strategic business opportunities in one of Asia’s most dynamic economies.
As Partner and General Director of Duane Morris Vietnam LLC, his professional expertise encompasses Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Corporate and Investment Law, Energy, Infrastructure, International Investment Structuring and Complex Cross-Border Transactions.
His extensive experience combines international legal standards with an in-depth understanding of Vietnam’s regulatory environment, financial frameworks and economic development. His multidisciplinary background enables him to address sophisticated investment and M&A transactions from legal, financial, commercial and strategic perspectives.
A longstanding advocate of German-Vietnamese economic cooperation, Dr. Massmann served on the Board of the German Business Association – GBA Vietnam for more than two decades, from 2004 to 2025, making him one of its longest-serving board members.
He also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the German-Vietnamese Society and its Delegate to Vietnam, actively promoting stronger economic, institutional and business relations between Germany and Vietnam.
An international conference speaker and author of numerous publications on Vietnam’s legal and investment environment, Dr. Massmann contributes to discussions on economic reform, international investment, capital market development, mergers and acquisitions, sustainable development and Vietnam’s integration into global financial markets.
